The predecessor of CGPI was the Domestic Wholesale Price Index (WPI), and the index preparation started in January 1994. It is a statistical indicator that reflects the changes in the price of physical goods transactions among domestic enterprises, and it is a comprehensive measure of inflation and a comprehensive price index that reflects economic fluctuations. The CGPI survey is a survey and statistics system approved by the National Bureau of Statistics and established and organized by the People's Bank of China.
